Life Questions You Don’t Want to Ask

On an almost daily basis, I ask Coach Tammy about things I would not necessarily have the nerve to ask anyone else. Things that happen with or to the human body but don’t necessarily make sense, if you get my drift. The first installment of this blog series is definitely one I’ve wondered about but never heard discussed other than people automatically saying “that’s so gross!” Read this week’s blog to find out what is on my mind!!

In this week’s blog, When Someone Makes You Crazy, I’ll give you some strategies to stay sane and maybe even win that person over!

New Year, Old Me!

Over the past couple of weeks I’ve heard “New Year, New Me” often enough I feel my blood pressure rising now when people say it. What say you? Let’s take a moment to celebrate 2023 and the old you – and me!

Think Before You Shake

If you follow Coach Mary on Facebook – you will know we spent last weekend in Minneapolis.  And we had a blast!!  But I recall waking up each morning with a very dry mouth and puffy hands.  Why?  Eating out and consuming too much sodium. I appreciate how much control we can have over our food by cooking at home where we can regulate important ingredients such as sodium and fat. In this week’s blog, we tackle the topic of sodium - why we need it, why we don’t need too much and how to find the right balance in your diet.

Whom Should I Tell?

Sometimes when you hear a song or the name of someone that you love, a flood of memories washes over you at the most unexpected times and places. This happened to me recently recalling the song “I’ll Go Tell Mary” recounting the story of Mary telling Elizabeth about her pregnancy and the visit that they had. Let’s take a moment to eavesdrop to hear their honesty in unbidden secrets this week in our blog. Maybe you, like Mary, wonder Whom Should I Tell?

An Ounce of Prevention - Part 6: Have You Had Your Shots?

Since 2003, Merriam-Webster announces a word of the year which provides a glimpse into the minds of those using its resources. The words often reflect events that happened during the year. Not surprising, the word of 2020 was pandemic. What was the word of the year for 2021? Well, what intervention allowed us to begin to get back to “normal” following COVID? Out of My Butt An Ounce of Prevention - Part 5; The importance of colon cancer screening

Raising children, there were inevitable conversations about bodily functions, including the rather challenging ones like menstruation and yes, poop. Boys seem especially attracted to this subject. I think partly because it’s a function done in private but more so because bringing this up in front of one or both parents can cause automatic embarrassment and squirming that the child finds profoundly amusing. The one thing Jr. can do that accentuates this squirming is he can pass a loud fart to make the point. Combining the two might push Mom “over the edge”, reddening the face and immediately changing the subject. But feces is a necessary and helpful topic to address, especially as we consider healthy output and screening for preventative health. Read more as we address “Out of My Butt” in this week’s blog!
