Update on Jimmy (December 2020)…

Congratulations to Jimmy on running the St. Jude virtual 10K. This was his first 10K - whole-food, plant-based eating and consistent training helped him get to the finish line strong!! He is now training for his first half-marathon. We are SO proud of him!

 CAN’T STOP THIS GUY!!! (April 2021 Update)

On July 5, 2020 Jimmy signed up with Whole Coaching and started a run/walk program. When he first started, he was running a total of five 1-minute intervals in a 30 minute session. And it was not easy!!! He now has run two half marathons (13.1 miles) and we are so proud of him. He signed up for the Albany (Georgia) Snickers Half-Marathon Live event to be held in March 2021. It was then delayed to April and changed to a virtual event. Since Jimmy was already trained for the earlier date - he ran a “test run” on 2/27/21. He then officially ran the scheduled half-marathon on 4/3/2021 shaving 9 minutes off his time compared to the February time. THIS IS SO IMPRESSIVE!! His route was not easy, it was not flat and it was without fans. He had to dig deep and be gritty and he was!! His time was 2:45:57 and he beat a lot of the competition. Whole Coaching would like to offer a big CONGRATULATIONS to this awesome guy who has been “all in” from the onset. He has lost weight, is eating whole-food plant-based, is in great shape and has transformed into a picture of health. He is now doing speed work several times a week and hopes to get even faster. We can’t wait to see what is next for Jimmy. Healthy looks so good on you!

Better Looking Each Day!

I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes 15 years ago due to being overweight and poor eating habits.  As the disease progressed, I became insulin dependent and my general health was declining.  In October, 2020 my wife and I decided to sign on with Whole Coaching in order to make some much needed changes.  We began a plant -based diet and incorporated a daily exercise routine.  To date I have lost 35 pounds, decreasing my A1C from 8.5 to 5.5 and have been able to decrease my insulin dependence by more than 50%. My family doctor believes that I may no longer have a diabetic diagnosis!

With these lifestyle changes we made with Whole Coaching, I have felt better than I have in years and have much more energy.  Because of this life change, I am now able to set and achieve goals to be more physically active with my grandchildren and look forward to continuing this healthy lifestyle. 

 The weekly meetings with Tammy and Mary gave me a hope that I had not had in years.  At 67 years of age, I am able to look forward to the future again through being healthier, making better food choices, increasing my exercise and growing spiritually along this journey.  I feel and look better than I ever have before!

Living Life to Its Fullest

When my 2020 birthday arrived I felt rather discouraged, not because of my age but my weight. It was the highest I had ever seen and I rationalized that it was due to my age because nothing else I did worked.  A month later my husband and I decided sign up for the Whole Coaching 13-week Metamorphosis.  A “southern cook” all my life meant that preparing a plant-based meal was completely out of my comfort zone.  Previously our meals were based on a meat with sides being an afterthought.  I definitely felt overwhelmed at first! Tammy assisted me with recipes, meal prep ideas and even “how to” videos.  The biggest change for me has been planning ahead.  Instead of making a last-minute plan to “pick up dinner”, I now develop a weekly meal plan.  I can also find all the foods I need for preparation in my local grocery store.  At our weekly meetings, Tammy and Mary answered our concerns of where to find foods and to make suggestions to make my meal choices healthier.  As of January, 2021, I have lost 16 pounds and I am setting goals for a healthier lifestyle to continue weight loss until I reach my desired weight.  As I have focused on developing my exercise program and healthy food choices, I have been able to set achievable goals of travel, time with grandchildren and spiritual growth as I understand better God’s plan for me. I am so grateful to Tammy and Mary for walking alongside on this journey and for allowing God to use their many talents to help couples like us.

Plant-Based Whole Foods Made All the Difference

I struggled with being overweight my entire adult life. It took chest pains in my mid-40s, spending time in cardiac rehab, being put on high blood pressure medication, and being labeled as prediabetic to finally get my attention. I started watching my caloric intake and walking a lot. I lost some weight, but I plateaued and still had a body mass index that put me in the obese category.

Crucial Guidance

I began hanging out with a good friend, Tammy, who appointed herself to become my unpaid coach and accountability partner. She had me send her a photograph of every meal that I was eating. At the time, I really, really liked pizza, ice cream, and a whole host of other processed foods. I don’t think Tammy liked what she saw, because she soon asked if she could supply all of my meals and snacks for three weeks. I (rather skeptically) agreed. For those three weeks, I only ate the food that Tammy provided, which was nothing but whole-food, plant-based (WFPB) meals and snacks. It wasn’t that bad, and I started seeing results on the scales. She then convinced me to try eating WFPB for a little while longer…
