A native of Southwest Ohio, she graduated from Wilmington College and Asbury Theological Seminary with a Bachelor then Master of Arts in Music. Spanning three decades, Mary led successful music ministries in Kentucky and Georgia where, more importantly, she observed and was led to focus on relationships. Music created beauty and honors God but was actually a means to help people learn to love each other and grow closer to Christ. In 2010 continued working full-time while following a call from God to return to Seminary and begin work toward a Doctor of Ministry which she completed in 2020 with her research focusing on coaching relationships.
Mary, like many, attempted a variety of diets since adolescence but always “fell off the wagon” eventually and would regain the weight while adding more to her waistline. Walking has long been a love for her and with it, she embarked on her most recent journey to health — and her goal weight. At first this was done through a self-assigned diet that focused on high fiber, low carbs and lean protein to 60 lbs. in eight years. It wasn’t until 2018, with the lifestyle change ending all diets to plant-based whole foods that she finally reached her goal weight, losing more than 100 pounds in the process.
Retiring in April 2020 to pursue her dream of life coaching, she has joined with her mentor and coach, Tammy Than, to form WHOLE Coaching to help others set goals, quit dieting to start healthy lifestyles and, through the grace of God, to become WHOLE in Christ! She is the proud mom of two amazing adult children, Virginia and Christian.
